The House Of The Devil - Opening Credits

The House Of The Devil – Opening Analysis

· Church bells at the beginning of the clip – makes the audience feel uncomfortable

· Panning shot from the yellow house to the car where by the two characters speak out the dialogue

· The land lady gives the student her house very cheaply– this creates suspicion for the audience and leave them questioning why

· Establishing shot of the house – sets the tone and atmosphere

· The church bells chime when the camera is focussed on the house – suggests to the audience that the house is haunted (religion)

· The credits do not match the genre of horror, instead they are comedic due to the colour of yellow and the big bubbly font

· The yellow credits make a connection with the yellow house established in a shot at the beginning of the clip

· The music does not match the horror genre

· Shot-reverse-shot between the tenant and the land lady

· The camera follows the tenant (main character) around whilst the soundtrack of 70’s music plays, how does this relate to the genre?
